One day as he was striding on that dirt road, he looked up at the window of this house. The girl was sitting next to it, looking at a book. The boy then decided to get her attention, he was lifting a log of wood, so being the smart boy he was, he decided to make it look heavier than it was.
He rested it on the ground, then wiped the "sweat" off of his face, but when the wood smashed against the ground it made a loud thud.
The boy was hunched there for a couple of seconds, then out of the corner of his eye gazed upon the window. The girl was staring at him. She had flawless skin, curly blonde hair, and fine clothes. She put a mark on the page and ran off. A few seconds later she appeared at the front door with a pair of boots on. She sprinted over to him and asked, "Do you need some help, I've always noticed you walking by, it must be hard."
He panted fakely, "Oh- no, no it isn't much of a hassle. I have to work anyways so, why not pull full effort?" He laughed awkwardly while she grinned. He lifted the wood once again, making it look much harder than it was.
She replied, "Well I'll keep you company on your way home."
The boy blushed a bit, but responded, "Uh, yeah, s-s-thanks."
"So um, Jeremy, what exactly is your job?"
"I cut wood and deliver it on foot, not the best job around, I know, but you do anything to get the bread on the table."
"Oh I know! I mean, my job doesn't pay much either, but i enjoy it, and it gets what I need done."
Jeremy did not know Lindsay had a job. "Well what's your job?"
"I haven't told you yet? I am an author, I write fantasy, I also analyze and edit books for others, that's why I sit up in my window all day and read."
Jeremy nodded with a smile. "Your job sounds fun! You get to make up what you want! You know, I do write poems myself."
"Really, maybe sometime you should send me one."
And later that night, he wrote a poem and delivered it by owl to her window. Lindsay took the letter and smiled to see it was from Jeremy.
It was a love poem, and the next day, the two ended up in each other's arms...
